It looks like Team Ariel and Team Hezi God want XvsX Sports Nation to know that they aren’t forfeiting their spots at the top any time soon. In our Men’s and Women’s Showdown games this past Thursday, Team Ariel clenched another win against Team Remarkable with a final score of 85-60 while Team Hezi God defeated Team Rome Flynn 114-96.
Although Team Remarkable had the clear size advantage over Team Ariel and even held an 11-point lead early on in the game, their lack of bench support left them without an ample amount of substitutions, ultimately gassing the entire time out before the first half even finished. As soon as Team Ariel regained the lead, they were able to hold onto it for the remainder of the game.
Christina Ellis led Team Ariel in scoring, hitting 21 of the team’s 85 points as well as pulling down 7 rebounds, and getting 4 steals and 3 assists. Ashley Samson and Shakeen Benton were two more key contributors to Thursday night’s win, combining for a total of 40 points, 24 of which came from behind the 3-point line. Team Captain Ariel Temple was a beast on the boards, finishing the game with a total of 6 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Team Captain Remarkable Carter finished the game with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Zenith Hernandez led the team in scoring with 19 points and finished with 7 rebounds and 2 assists, while Amber Blockmon finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and two blocks. Leading Team Remarkable in rebounds was Drew Bedlemen and finished the game with 12 points and 2 blocks.

The action didn’t stop there, as we shifted into our Men’s Showdown game where Team Hezi God maintained control from start to finish. From the moment the ball was tipped off, Team Rome Flynn was dominated on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. Although Flynn’s team battled their way through each half, Team Hezi God proved to be too much for their opponent, at one point leading the game by as much as 34 points.

By the start of the second half, Hezi’s team had such a large lead that they began to have a little bit of fun by putting on a dunk show for the crowd. Marcus Bell flew high, hitting power dunk after power dunk, while Dream Chaser, Zach Hinton, and Isaiah Watson joined in on the action as well, nailing their own dunks off lobs from their team captain.
